Israeli military aircraft have attacked Houthi military targets in Yemen. An airport in the country’s capital, Sana’a, was among the sites hit, reports the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Strikes were carried out on terrorist positions along the western coastline and deep inside the country.
In particular, the attacks targeted Houthi military infrastructure at Sana’a International Airport, as well as the Hezyaz and Ras Kanatib power stations.
Additionally, the IDF struck military infrastructure at the ports of Al-Hudaydah, Salif, and Ras Kanatib ports on the western coast.
“These military targets were used by the Houthi terrorist regime to smuggle Iranian weapons into the region and for the entry of senior Iranian officials. This is a further example of the Houthis’ exploitation of civilian infrastructure for military purposes,” the IDF stated.
Israeli attacks on Yemen’s Houthis
Since the onset of the Gaza conflict on October 7, 2023, the Houthi Islamist group, supported by Iran, has started targeting commercial vessels transiting the Red Sea. The terrorists have also regularly launched missile and drone attacks on Israeli territory.
On December 26, WHO (World Health Organization) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was injured during a strike while with his team at Sana’a airport.
On December 21, the Houthis launched missiles at the Israeli capital. Explosions were heard in Sana’a just hours later.
It was later revealed that the strike was carried out by US military forces.
On the night of December 19, the Houthis fired a missile at Israel, but it was intercepted by the country’s air defense. In response, Israel conducted airstrikes on terrorist positions in Yemen.
